"O give thanks unto the Lord; call upon His name; make known His deeds among the people. Sing unto Him, sing psalms unto Him; talk of all His wondrous works." — Psalm 105:1–3

Our Mission
The Choir at St. Peters exists not merely to perform, but to minister. As the Mar Thoma tradition beautifully affirms, music for worship is not entertainment — it is an act of worship. The choir provides leadership in worship by helping the congregation sing together and experience the presence of God. Leading the congregation in hymns and worship is absolutely essential for worship, since praise is much desired by God — and this duty is carried out by the choir in every worship service, not only on Sundays but also during Passion Week and special celebrations in Easter and Christmas seasons. GuideStar Every voice in the choir — whether singing in Malayalam or English — is united by one purpose: to glorify God and draw the hearts of the congregation into His presence.
What We Do
The Choir leads the congregation in singing during the Holy Communion and Worship service each week and on other special services. The Church choir makes special presentations during Parish Conventions, Retreats, Ecumenical Christmas Programs, Family Sundays, Choir Dedication Sundays, Parish Day, and Christmas Carol Services.
The Choir meets regularly for practice sessions in order to provide liturgy and hymns leadership for Holy Communion every Sunday and for various sacraments and services. The dedication, selfless service, and musical passion of the Parish Choir is exemplary. Marthomana The Department of Sacred Music and Communications, under which the choir functions, works to organize, coordinate, and equip parish choirs in their mission as worship leaders, and also trains talented individuals to develop their vocal and instrumental gifts through music workshops and training programs.
Two Voices, One Congregation
The presence of both a Malayalam Choir and an English Choir at St. Peters is a true reflection of who we are as a congregation — a community that honors its roots while embracing the next generation. The Malayalam Choir carries the sacred hymns and liturgical traditions passed down through generations of faithful Mar Thoma worshippers, while the English Choir connects younger members and families to the same deep well of faith through the language of their daily lives. Together, they form one united choir — 70 voices strong — lifting one song of praise to one God.
A Ministry of the Heart
At St. Peters, the Choir is far more than a group of singers — it is a ministry of the heart. Every rehearsal is an act of preparation, and every Sunday service is an offering of praise. In the sacred role of leading worship, the choir serves as a catalyst for a collective spiritual journey, creating an atmosphere where the congregation unites in song and connects deeply with the divine presence of God.
Whether through beloved Malayalam hymns, soul-stirring English worship songs, or the timeless liturgical chants of the Mar Thoma tradition, the Choir of St. Peters lifts the hearts of the congregation heavenward — week after week, season after season.
