Senior Fellowship

"That the aged men (or women) be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience." — Titus 2:2

Who We Are

The Senior Fellowship of St. Peters Mar Thoma Church, Washington Township, New Jersey, is a cherished and honored community within our congregation — a fellowship of faithful men and women who have walked with God through the many seasons of life. The Senior Fellowship brings together elder members for spiritual enrichment, fellowship, and community service.

The Mar Thoma Senior Citizens Fellowship has been recognized as an official organization of the Church, with activities centered on assisting in the mental, spiritual, moral, and cultural growth, empowerment, and physical healing of the senior members of the Church. It is dedicated to ensuring fellowship, cooperation, and comfort to all senior members in the Church and society, and to keeping them in the mainstream of congregational life.

Our Mission

At St. Peters, our Senior Fellowship exists to honor, celebrate, and uplift the elder members of our congregation — recognizing that their wisdom, experience, and lifelong faith are invaluable treasures to the entire church community. Members of the Senior Fellowship are encouraged to make effective use of the life and health that God has given them, sharing their experiences and acquired moral values with the new generation by proclaiming the ways in which God has led them throughout their lives.

We believe that age is not a season of stepping back, but a season of deeper witness, richer prayer, and greater blessing to those around us.

Our Objectives

The Senior Fellowship at St. Peters is guided by several meaningful purposes:

  • To build up a strong fellowship among the elderly members of the parish, to be a blessing to others.
  • To share experience and leadership qualities with others for spiritual growth and witnessing Jesus Christ.
  • To develop a positive attitude towards old age, trusting that our Lord is in control of everything.
  • To equip senior members to carry out Christian witness in the family, parish, and church, and to participate meaningfully in worship, church services, and the proclamation of the Word of God.

What We Do

The Senior Fellowship gathers regularly for prayer, Bible study, devotional sharing, and fellowship. Members actively participate in the life of the congregation — offering intercessory prayer, mentoring younger families, and contributing their gifts and experience to the church's mission and ministry. Leveraging the talents and experience of senior members is greatly beneficial to the mission of the Church. Special programs, outings, and celebrations are also organized throughout the year to nurture joy, companionship, and well-being among members.

A Legacy of Faithfulness

Many in this group have a strong emotional connection to various activities within the Parish and Congregation and have made significant contributions to the growth of the parish. The Senior Fellowship at St. Peters Mar Thoma Church is a living testament to lives well-lived in faith — and an enduring source of blessing, wisdom, and inspiration for the entire congregation.

All members of the parish who have attained the age of sixty and above are warmly welcomed to be a part of this fellowship.
